Diabetic Foot Care

What is it?

Poorly controlled diabetes over a long period of time can lead to:

  • Nerve Damage (Peripheral Neuropathy); reducing feeling in the feet and possibly meaning that injuries/wounds go unnoticed

  • Poor Circulation (Peripheral Vascular Disease); which increases the time it takes for wounds or infections to heal

How can I help?

A yearly check-up with your podiatrist will help to detect any changes earlier; making them easier to manage. A care plan can then be tailored to your needs depending on the results.

What can you do?

  • Check your feet daily for any changes

  • Avoid shoes that are too tight or too big
