Diabetic Foot Care
What is it?
Poorly controlled diabetes over a long period of time can lead to:
Nerve Damage (Peripheral Neuropathy); reducing feeling in the feet and possibly meaning that injuries/wounds go unnoticed
Poor Circulation (Peripheral Vascular Disease); which increases the time it takes for wounds or infections to heal
How can I help?
A yearly check-up with your podiatrist will help to detect any changes earlier; making them easier to manage. A care plan can then be tailored to your needs depending on the results.
What can you do?
Check your feet daily for any changes
Avoid shoes that are too tight or too big
